The University of Cuenca’s Department of Water Resources and Environmental Sciences (iDRHICA) is an interdisciplinary academic unit that contributes to improve people’s quality of life through the generation of scientific and technological knowledge about water and its relation to natural and built systems, from a sustainable development perspective.
Research topics cover most aspects of water resources and include hydrological processes, flood and drought forecasting, environmental water quality, landscape and watershed management, and wastewater treatment.
Our research is based on a combination of experimental field and laboratory studies, and modeling approaches. This knowledge is transferred to our graduate students in our Master in Hydrology (major in Ecohydrology) and PhD in Water Resources.
